DesBarres x Hatch - DesBarres Chocolate Ruiru Crush 72%

Our second collaboration bar with the team at DesBarres. We were thrilled with our collaboration bar from last year so we couldn’t wait to do another. This time Erik had been inspired by one of our seasonal coffees, Ruiru AA, a lovely washed kenyan coffee. He decided to pair it with his Semuliki chocolate as it also comes from Africa. The coffee was was milled in with the chocolate to really incorporate it together seamlessly. Try it on its own or grab the pair as a combo to compare them!

"This 72% dark chocolate bar features beans from the Bundibugyo region in Western Uganda. The cacao resulted in a slightly darker chocolate in colour and very distinct flavour from any of our other bars. We taste flavours that include spice and jammy fruits, or even a mulled wine, on a background of deep chocolate.

This cacao is grown by 1,002 organic smallholder farmers in the Bundibugyo region, 52% of whom are women. Latitude Trade Co. (LTC), the company that processes and exports this cacao, has organized 6 rural collection points for farmers to access, where they sell fresh cacao weekly into the network and receive cash at the point of sale."
